After seven years as an IT specialist at Southern Life, he moved into the Asset Management industry functioning mainly as a quantitative analyst across both equity and fixed interest markets. He worked as a fixed interest specialist and portfolio manager at Nedcor Investment Bank and Abvest Associates before joining Trident Capital. Here his duties included specialist fixed interest portfolio management and the development and management of Real Return and Targeted Return products. Sidney joined Lion of Africa in 2010 as a senior portfolio manager where he was responsible for setting up the functionality of the asset manager within the group. Sidney was appointed Head of Asset Management at Warwick in April 2014, assuming responsibility for the management of all related products. Sidney holds a B.Sc degree from The University of Cape Town, Diplomas in IS Project Management, Financial Management, and has completed modules in the Capital Markets (Securities Institute-London). Sam was at Investec Asset Management until September 2011, where he held the positions of director, head of South African equities and portfolio manager in the Global Contrarian team. He started his career in the investment management industry at Allan Gray and moved to Abvest (now ABSA Asset Management), where he fulfilled the roles of portfolio manager, chief investment officer and, ultimately, chief executive officer, before leaving to join Investec Asset Management in early 2006. He headed a team of investment professionals responsible for well over R100 billion in equities across the full spectrum of portfolios, from pure equity to multi-asset mandates. He was the lead portfolio manager and key decision maker for close on R40 billion in client assets, including the Investec Global Franchise Fund and Investec Cautious Managed Fund.
